Try This At Home: Easy Salted Egg Pasta Recipe
I've got a super simple recipe to share with you! I've always been a fan of Salted Egg dishes, but honestly, making them from scratch in the past was quite a mess. π It felt like a lot of hassle, especially starting with those eggs that looked like they were covered in dirt. But guess what? Last month, @shoshedap.singapore reached out to me for a collab! They're the first in Singapore to distribute this famous Salted Egg powder from Malaysia. I was really intrigued by their videos because they made it seem super easy! π€―
I said yes to their offer and got my delivery. I received two boxes to experiment with, and to my surprise, it only took two tablespoons of the shoshedap powder to make a dish for two people! That means each box can serve about 5 to 6 meals. Isn't that amazing?
Before I go on, I have to mention that some folks might not fancy powdered salted egg because it's considered "processed" food and not as authentic as the real deal. But hey, I'm okay with it! Everyone's got their preferences, right? I see it as a shortcut, kinda like how they have pre-made seasoning for Nasi Goreng at the grocery store.
Making salted egg dishes from scratch is seriously time-consuming, and this powder saves me at least 30 minutes in the kitchen. Time is money, my friends! It's super easy to use too. I whipped up this Salted Egg Pasta in less than 15 minutes, and there's no powdery taste once it's cooked well! The consistency was just perfect, especially after adding more evaporated milk to make it creamy!
I decided to skip adding meat to the pasta this time because I wanted to pair it with some fried chicken wings, but feel free to customize it however you like!
Here are the ingredients I used:
Olive oil
1/2 cup of unsalted butter
1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic
1 stalk of curry leaves
Chili padi (add as much as you like!)
1/2 cup of evaporated milk
1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons of shoshedap powder
2 cups of wholemeal pasta
