Nestled amidst a charming row of shophouses, Butter Studio is a hidden gem that beckons food lovers on a delightful journey. Situated conveniently across the street from Jalan Besar Food Centre, this cozy café offers a tempting respite for those seeking a delectable treat. I initially assumed that Butter Studio would be nearer to Jalan Besar Stadium, but to my surprise, this delightful café is actually closer to Farrer Park MRT, a mere 10-minute stroll away.

Despite its cozy size, the entire studio is brimming with meticulous attention to detail and exudes a warm and inviting ambiance.

As we entered, we couldn't help but admire the thought and effort that went into decorating the space. Our group of twelve was undoubtedly the liveliest bunch, gathered around a long table. Nevertheless, the overall atmosphere remained serene, allowing us to relish the cozy embrace that defined the essence of Butter Studio.

Every nook and cranny exuded a sense of warmth and comfort, heightened by the tasteful and homely decorations that adorned the space. It felt as though we were stepping into a cherished friend's living room rather than a café. The attention to detail was remarkable, making every corner a potential Instagram-worthy shot. Unsurprisingly, the sound of camera snaps filled the air, capturing the essence of the charming ambience.

Staff & Service:

Initially, I had my reservations when my friend suggested hosting her boyfriend's birthday dinner at a café. Most cafes aren't known for accommodating big groups or tolerating loud noises, let alone taking reservations. However, much to my surprise, my friend managed to secure a reservation for our party of twelve! My skepticism quickly transformed into intrigue as we entered the café.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Sarah, a friendly and attentive waitress. She swiftly guided us to our long table, located in a cozy corner that seemed to occupy a significant portion of the store. The staff went above and beyond, graciously accommodating our request for extra chairs, ensuring that everyone was comfortably seated.

Throughout our dining experience, two other staff members caught our attention. Although reserved in nature, they displayed remarkable efficiency in serving the other customers. They may not have gone above and beyond in flashy ways, but their dedication to fulfilling their duties with utmost professionalism was commendable. With their attentiveness and promptness, they ensured that every visitor felt well taken care of. Kudos to the remarkable trio for their exceptional service.

The staff at Butter Studio impressed us not only with their efficiency but also with their genuine warmth and hospitality. Despite the bustling atmosphere, they managed to create a welcoming environment that made us feel valued and appreciated as customers. From Sarah's friendly demeanor to the seamless coordination of the entire team, their efforts contributed to the overall enjoyable experience at Butter Studio.

Taste & Price:

When it comes to pricing, I must admit that some items seemed a bit on the higher end. For instance, the chicken pie priced at $8.90 felt a tad steep for its small portion. However, the café also offered attractive bundle deals, like the tempting 3 for $10 cupcakes or 2 for $12 tarts, which provided a more affordable option. In my opinion, their main dishes truly justified their price tags, offering a satisfying value for money.

While everyone's tastes and preferences may differ, it's always intriguing to explore the diverse range of palates within our group. So, without further ado, let's delve into these delightful confections and uncover the varied opinions that emerged from our merry gathering.

Lemon Meringue Tart (SGD6) - It has a very zesty-sweet taste to it. The crust is thick and crunchy, adding a satisfying texture to each bite. The meringue itself is a fluffy, sweet cloud, reminiscent of marshmallows. Underneath the meringue topping, you'll find a refreshingly lemony filling that brings a vibrant citrus taste. If you're a fan of tangy desserts, this tart is a must-try.

Sea Salt Nutella Tart (SGD6) - Definitely one of my favorites! It's a heavenly combination of saltiness and the irresistible allure of Nutella. The right amount of salt perfectly complements the rich and nutty sweetness of Nutella, creating a delightful harmony of flavors that will leave you craving for more. Thick and sinfully delicious, each bite of the Sea Salt Nutella Tart is pure indulgence. If you're a fan of Nutella and appreciate the balance of sweet and salty notes, this tart is an absolute must-try.

Butterscotch Velvet Cupcake (SGD3.50) - I hope I got the name right! The butterscotch flavour in this cupcake took center stage, but for me, it was a little bit too overpowering. Unfortunately, I couldn't fully appreciate the sweetness of the cream cheese and cupcake base.

Iced Butterscotch Fluffy (SGD4.50) and Iced Nutella (SGD5.50) - These drinks are a milk-based delight with a thick layer of Nutella at the bottom and sides. I had to stir everything together before it turned into a creamy mixture, almost like Nutella-flavored milk. I enjoyed licking the Nutella off the straw—it was a tasty treat!

However, I made a bit of a mistake by having these drinks alongside a big platter. It left me feeling very full and a little queasy afterward. But if you have a sweet tooth, definitely give these drinks a try. Just keep in mind that they are quite rich, so enjoy them in moderation.

Butterscotch Banana Maple Pancakes (SGD12) — This combination of heavenly ingredients creates a pancake experience that is both comforting and indulgent. Each bite is a delightful medley of flavours, with the fluffy pancakes, caramel notes of butterscotch complementing the natural sweetness of the bananas and the comforting richness of the maple syrup.

Nutella Choco Banana Pancakes (SGD12) — Whether you're a chocolate lover, a fan of Nutella, or simply someone seeking pancake perfection, these Nutella Choco Banana Pancakes are a must-try. Each bite is a harmonious blend of chocolatey goodness, velvety Nutella, and the natural sweetness of the bananas. The pancakes are perfectly cooked, achieving that ideal balance of softness and slight crispness around the edges.

Turkey Bacon Eggs Benedict (SGD14) — With each forkful, you'll experience the harmony of savoury turkey bacon, the satisfying creaminess of the poached eggs, and the comforting warmth of the toasted muffin. The flavours come together beautifully, creating a mouthwatering sensation that will leave you longing for more. Whether you're a fan of traditional Eggs Benedict or looking for a twist with turkey bacon, this dish is sure to please your taste buds.

Sausage Lover's Platter (SGD15) - This dish strikes a good balance of carbs, protein, and vegetables for a satisfying dinner. It may not look like a large portion, but it actually left me feeling quite full. Of course, it could be because I also had the Iced Nutella on the side. Interestingly, one of the boys at our table had the same dish as me but felt the need to order an additional side dish. I suppose it varies from person to person based on their appetite.

In conclusion, my experience at Butter Studio was undeniably positive, filled with delightful moments in this cozy café. While I captured a picture of their menu booklet, I believe it's only fair to encourage you, my dear readers, to make the effort to visit the store and experience it firsthand. Discover for yourselves if it's worth the money. For me, it was unquestionably worth every penny. Lastly, a special shoutout to Iskandar for the birthday celebration and a heartfelt thank you to Butter Studio for hosting us!
