11 Countries That Every Muslim Should Add To Their Bucket List
As a fellow Muslim and traveler, I'm just like you—an adventurer who prays for the opportunity to explore the many corners of Allah’s beautiful world. While I've had the chance to visit some incredible places on this list, I know there are still many more waiting for us to discover.
Whether you're a seasoned traveler or just starting to explore, check out these 11 countries that I believe every Muslim should consider adding to their travel bucket list:
1. Saudi Arabia
Without a doubt, this has to be first on my list. Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Islam so obviously, it holds a profound significance for Muslims around the world. Its two holiest cities, Mecca and Medina, are the focal points of the Islamic faith, and it is every Muslim’s dream to be able to visit this holy land.
Mecca, in particular, is where Muslims undertake the Hajj pilgrimage, an obligation for every capable Muslim at least once in their lifetime. When in Mecca, don't miss trying the delicious dates and zamzam water, which are symbolic and refreshing treats for pilgrims.
In Medina, the Prophet's Mosque and Quba Mosque are significant spiritual landmarks, that I hold deeply in my heart. The sense of belonging you get when you’re there, is something completely out of this world, and I pray that anyone who reads this will get a chance to visit Mecca and Medina, Insha’Allah.
2. Jerusalem
Next on the list is Jerusalem, simply because of Masjidil Al-Aqsa and the Dome of Rock. This is a significant mosque in the history of Islam and the Quran also talks about the Al Aqsa Mosque as the first Qibla – point of direction for praying – as well as referring to its centrality in events that are to occur before the day of reckoning.
On top of that, this country is a captivating blend of beautiful people, nature, history, culture, and delectable cuisines. If you ever get the chance, do visit this beautiful country when it’s safe to do so.
